Lisinopril for BP anyone taking it?

I have been on Lisinopril/HCTZ 20-25mg for my blood pressure for a couple months now One of the side effects is cough. A dry hacking nasty cough. I have that but the med is working wonderful on my BP so trying to decide whether to change it or now.

Wondering if it is even ok to take with COPD?

I went to 1/2 tablet and still keeps my BP down and don't get the cough as often now...........just wondering if anyone on the forum takes or has taken it?

I took lisinipril for about 10 years 10 mg with no problems at all. I ran out just prior to qualifying for Medicare. My BP is now normal and I don't have to take any BP med, for now anyway. Good luck tp you.

Congrats Kylee on no BPmeds now!! awesome! Thanks for telling me your experience on it. I go back and forth trying to decide if it is worth it with the cough but maybe it will go away. Yeah I am sick right now but this does cause cough too, it is Different........

Did you know that studies show that Lisinipril also strengthens the heart muscles which is a good thing when you have COPD, it helps keep the heart strong:)

Ya know, I was just thinking about what it had said about they give this to people with congestive heart failure......(something I have worried about) before. I hadn't heard it said the way did. that does sound promising ! It would be worth it to cough if it strengthened my heart!

Thanks for letting me know this! I am enjoying my day thank you........taking it easy. Think I will take a long nap today to help with the healing process.........
