Well its a bit long but something to read if you have nothing else to do.....
Was in private contact with Brenda here re the exorbitant price Philippine airlines were charging me for oxygen inflight...like $4,000 for a 12 hr trip..plus price of ticket.......anyway fast forward and having passed the walk test by the airlines plulmo we were told its ok to fly without....plus they did have a limited supply on board for emergencies only....mind you before we accepted this we had some huge arguments with them and I think their noses were put out of joint sorta when we raised concerns that their webpage completely contradicted the charge they wanted us to pay.....
Next we dropped into immigration to confirm that we had not received a replacement I-Card for 2 years even though we had payed in full for this new card. We had a letter from the then Attorney saying everything is ok. so we wanted to confirm this again....without this card a foreigner cannot exit the country....
Guess what....our original atty had been sacked for corruption and we met his new replacement.....''Sorry sir..your letter means zero so technically you are an illegal person and can be jailed'' we were astounded but he put his hand on my wife's shoulder and said ''Anything can be arranged'' come back tomorrow n ill give you my personal approval so your husband can leave''
5,000 pesos...n not the 10,000 he wanted and we got this letter...whew..
The nite arrived before we had to leave....it was a very teary goodbye to my 3 little girls knowing I would never see them again...We arrived at Cebu airport, checked in and AGAIN...''Sir please come with us we have a major problem....you cannot board the flight as the Aust embassy in Canberra does not acknowledge your existence''
To cut it short they refused me permission to talk to the embassy even though they acknowledged I had a legal passport n visa, n said they are doing their best to clear it up....by this time I was totally stressed out n if not for Beth I was just about to lose the plot....after 1 hr sitting in a detention room the bitch arrived with a big grin and said ''its all ok..it was a computer glitch and you can board now.''...half hour before flight time n we still had to go thru customs..In hindsight there was no issue..it was made up as revenge payback for being cheeky to immigration n the airline previously....
The rest of the trip was fine...had no oxygen hassles and arrived safe and SO FRIGGIN HAPPY..to be home.....
We have settled in well..Beth loves it here n my breathing has improved out of sight....Got a new doc n pulmo lined up n tomorrow I go to Centrelink to get evaluated as to the benefits I get for having a chronic disease.....

Thank goodness all is well.
Like I said on another message to you, just do whatever you have to to get out of that place and get home!! I am sorry you had to go thru all those last minute hassles and was so stressed to the max!! Thank you Beth for being the calm effect Peter needed.
But guess what my brother...YOU ARE HOME !! And I have no doubt your breathing improved with all that clean , non polluted air there.
It sounds like you are getting settled and getting all the things you need set up. There is no doubt the medical care will be so much better.
Do not give up hope about your grandchildren , miracles do happen. I know you and Beth are heartbroken over that.
Except for her family and those sweet girls, put that place behind you and look forward to a better future. People who have never been to Australia just do not realize the beauty and relaxed atmosphere of that place.
I am happy for you and Beth, and look forward to your posts from "home"
