Wow - have I had fun since Friday - 29th Nov. Got sick before Thxgiving - missed dinner with family, grandchildren and children (plus great granddaughter) cause I was too sick to go (plus oldest daughter had suppressed immune system since she is coming back to life after chemo & massive bladder removal surgery). I was scared I'd give her something tho we all know this thing we have is not catching BUT the cold that causes the big, big problem could be. So sick by Friday - had to go to ER and that's where I remained until Thursday - 5th Dec. What fun I had - LOL - Locked in a 12 x 12 room (I'm also MRSA positive) so I'm isolated any time they admit me. People wear these funny yellow paper gowns and purple gloves when they come in my door. I don't pretend to understand MRSA.
Friends and buddies out there - I did not enjoy this experience! This was my first time having this thing get me down to the point of hospitalization. Spending 5 days flat on my back or pacing 1 thru 12 steps in that little cube made me feel like the Bonnie half of Bonnie & Clyde. Came home just totally washed out like a limp dishrag and still had to grocery shop and cook. In other words don't feel much different than I did when I went in - just reallly tired and washed out or up or whatever you want to call it. Sure hope I'm done with this now - I suspect I lost a little more capacity but that's the way this goes. I wonder how far you go before you have no further to go - still can't seem to pin the doctor down on that one and I know they can't really say but it would be good to have a guideline of some sort. There are things you like to make sure you have tidied up before you bite the dust, so to speak - LOL
Didn't mean to run on but so happy to be back out here - don't have a laptop so I was AWOL while in there.

Being in the hospital is no fun, and I have been there several times. My lungs are worn out, and very sensitive to any illness, even an allergy . But I had to pick my own battles and decided to do what I have to do to stay better. I avoid crowds, sick people, and when I do go out I wear a mask around people . Wash my hands all the time, eat right, try to exercise, and will still have a bad one, but so far have avoided the hospital. Each spell, causes more lung damage, so brings me closer to reality, that this is for real. I do not know if a doctor will tell you for sure how long you have, they do not really know either, since this disease treats people different. Someone with a lower number than me, may be out walking when I can barely make it. So just take care of yourself on a daily basis, cause really that is all we have, that day, and if God wants to give us another one, He will. I do not understand mrsa either, had it once and was treated like a leper, but hope to never get it again.
Take one day at a time, do what you have to do to , and take care of yourself. You may have to wear a mask around family, I do when my grandson is runny nose.....

As Brenda said it is a strange disease and we all handle it differently and different situations set it off. We have to do the best we can to stay well.
Sorry you had to go through this. Hope you feel better.
That you have only been once is a good statement that you try to take care of yourself. If I have learned nothing else about this disease is that you must manage it on a daily basis. And some days the manager is out.:) I took the Hi dose flue shot and I was not a good manager for about a week but slowly you get back.

i just had grandkids come stay with me until they can get a place & i asked them to please go tomorrow & get flu shots---it gets scary now days of getting exposed.

The hospital should have done a little (a LOT!) more to make you more comfortable.
The best thing about being in the hospital is leaving and coming home! :o)

But they did here, and when a relative or friend calls to come over to visit, I tell them as long as they are not running a fever, or have anything contaminating. It is hard, but we have to gradually change into our "new" normal. One day at a time my friend, live that day to the fullest, thank God for giving it to you.

I think ive been very careless in that I do not avoid contact with the many grandkids n adults who are always carrying some bug or other....
