I am on that program at Temple Univ Hoispital, Gerard J Criner is my Pulmo Doc. Report stats every day after taking morning meds. First week on the program they establish your base line nbrs, they then consider that "your normal". Any changes in "yr norm" bring about a phone call from Temple w/follow-up instructions.

I sign in on my computer to a website called COPD-Copilot. They issue some kind of smart tablet for patients who don't have a computer. They follow through on everything...,,forgot to sign in 2 different times and they call to see if all is OK.

Instructions say "If this is an emergency...go to nearst ER" and Notify Temple Lung Center.

Wow, that is great! My pulmo is a doc at a large hospital in Florida. Think I'll take the article to him my next visit in December and see what he thinks. Thanks for your input.

that would be such a help. I have a tendency to not notice my symptoms changing far too long.
it says it is for smart phones; I wonder if this goes if regular ol computers could be used.
I am going to show this to my PCP also as he's always on me about calling sooner.

I knew you had it, but how long have you had it for? long enough to really test it out good yet?
it's great that "one of our own" can respond & give an opinion about this as it sounds great to me.

it also reminds me I still haven't remembered to ask my dr about the "flow meter"----I don't have one & it seems like a simple & handy little tester to check my breathing with.
(in fact I think it's odd that 2 PCP's 2 pulms & even being in the hospital (way back) for an exacerbation & i've never even seen one of them other than images when I google it to see what people are referring to.

I assume that having the COPD-Co-pilot that it tells a person if they should start taking their "on hand" medications & not have to go by the "3 day rule" to start meds.

I believe that a flow meter could also be a good item to have on hand for daily exercise.Along w/Pulmo Rehab, the flow meter is the easiest method for some lung exercise. Each time that I was an in-patient at the hospital, they had me use it in the hospital, then it was mine to take home from there. They were kind of oversized & sort of intimated me......the one presented to me for the daily program is small & flat. Also looked it up on the computer...it cost about $17.00...mine was free w/the dairy program..;

Don't know if lung surgery patients are advised to use it...coils ; valves; reduction; etc

In my opinion, this item would be most beneficial to early/mild stage
lung disease or after a bout w/chest infection...I'm no doctor...but suggest you check it out with your doctor....Let us know if there could be any problems..
