I have a devise known as an areochamber, it also has a whistle. The whistle lets you know if you are breathing too hard.
The same kind of devise (as a spacer) is also on the end of the medicine cup on a nebulizer. They are both designed to slow down the delivery of the medication, so it can navigate the turns on the way into the lungs.
If you can taste or feel the medication at the back of the mouth than that means that is where it stopped, and it does no good there.
