I don't go to a Pulm often because of the distance. My Primary care physician (PCP) does my routine visits.
Every doctor I have ever gone to has wheel chairs available and if i called they would come out and get me & take me back to my car when done.
Have you spoken with your doctor about this? There is home health care available. My mother had that and a person would come 3 times a week for an hour to help her bathe or do lite housework.
the nurse would come once a month to check her, if she needed bloodwork the nurse would come to her home to do it.
but she still had to go see her dr.
Meals on wheels provided a warm meal a day for her.
Hospice is also available. the nurse comes more often, medications are provided by them etc. Even with hospice the doctor does not come to the house. Everything is done with the nurse reporting to the dr.
Do you have family or friends that can help you?
Good luck,
J

HOME DOCTOR SERVICE EXPANDS OFFER INTO ADELAIDE
Home Doctor Service, Australias largest network of doctors that make bulk-billed, after-hours home visits, has expanded its service to include households and aged care facilities in Adelaide.
The extension to Adelaide has been achieved through the integration of the local GP Connect home visiting doctor group into Home Doctor Service. In 2013 doctors from GP Connect, visited more than 180,000 Adelaide patients in their homes. GP Connect also operates four after hours clinics that provide services to about 50,000 patients per year.
There is significant demand from families and older Australians for quality, trusted care from doctors when GPs and medical centres are closed, and the illness is not serious enough for the emergency department, Ben Keneally, CEO of Home Doctor Service said.
As a result of the integration, Home Doctor Service will have over 100 doctors available to provide quality, trusted and affordable after hours home visits, and clinic consultations to residents in the wider metropolitan area of Adelaide.
Home Doctor Service specialises in after-hours home care, helps reduce the strain on crowded emergency departments and provides another alternative for worried parents and carers who need medical advice during the night, on weekends and during public holidays when GPs are closed.
Co Managing Director of GP Connect, Dr Umberto Russo welcomed the integration with Home Doctor Service, As a doctor I think its great to be part of the leading national network of home visiting doctors. Taking a national approach means we can continue to offer even better services locally and better professional development opportunities for our doctors.
There is a real need to provide home based medical care, especially for patients who might find it hard to leave the house during the night.
One of the main benefits of Home Doctor Service is that treatment is able to start immediately as all doctors carry complimentary starter packs of commonly prescribed medications. We also provide a report after each visit to the patients usual GP by 8am the following day, to ensure continuity and follow through on treatment, said Mr Keneally.
The service is simple to use people can call 13SICK and a medical receptionist will ask a series of questions about the symptoms to determine if a home visit is the right option and will then arrange for a doctor to make a bulk billed visit to the home, continued Mr Keneally.
The integration of GP Connect means that Home Doctor Service will now undertake more than half a million after-hours home visits per year across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Geelong and the Sunshine Coast.
