I haven't spoken much about where my health concerns have led after the doc reversed his initial diagnosis. I just finally was refered to a Gastro Dr. It's expected I have a whopper of a Hiatus Hernia. Perhaps not that surprising considering the kind of athletics I've practiced in my life. Weightlifting, heavy squats and heavy deadlifting absolutely ideal for causing a H.H..
Anyways, I'm aware from the posts people put up here that several people on the site have H.H. and g.e.r.d......not surprising I guess since some medical estimates figure better than 50% of all adults have H.H.
What fits in here on this site though, is what I've noticed my own self, and what I've read on other support sites for H.H. and that is that when a H.H. is in it's uppermost position it can affect your breathe-ability quite significantly. I find if I've just eaten a meal that I no longer get full in my belly as I used to prior to this, that I now get full up under my rib cage. and when that happens and space meant for my lungs is being taken up by that stomach I feel a heaviness in my chest that before I was aware of the H.H. I mistakenly related to my lungs.
I've since discovered on youtube methods of releasing a pent up H.H. through manipulation of the stomach and solar plexus area and a few other methods that work remarkably well. In a matter of minutes this feeling of obstruction to my lungs disappears and my belly is miraculously back around my belly button again and my breathing is free again. I wonder if there are others here this would help. If you have a H.H. and/or gerd which can be a sign of H.H. and yes, of copd too I know, this and other similar videos available may give some people here some breathing relief. I can post the particular video that helped me if anyone is interested. It''s not like it costs or anything so all you lose is a bit of time if it doesn't work for you......If you are already having lung and breathing difficulties, having your stomach and most of your last meal up in the space belonging to your lungs simply can't help but cause you problems. For my part, even when I haven't eaten I get this problem. Unfortunately the relief only lasts about 10 minutes when I'm hard at work, bending, squatting, picking up boxes, but the fix only takes about 30 seconds. Other times for some reason I can go most of a day without my stomack moving up much. I have no idea why but I'm set up with the right doc and they're going to do a scope and the barium x'ray so hopefully find out and even more hopefully that I'm a candidate for the laproscopic version of the H.H. surgery.
