I would so desparately welcome all thoughts/comments on my hubbys situation right now. He has COPD, it's been several yrs now & he's been on home oxygen for a few yrs now too. We've recently had several visits to the ER for issues with him coughing up muscus that could be either blackish or tinged with blood. He's had two rounds with antibiotic treatments & things would appear to ease up & then within a short time bam again. His last round finished abt 4 days ago now. It seems at some point I've been told that even though meds are finished they stay active in your system for some time afterwards.
We don't know what to think at this point & we'd welcome any advice, thoughts/comments that might help us see things clearer.

As for your hubby, that sounds very scary; I have read of having blood in the lungs, but I have not experienced it.
perhaps if things ease up with antibiotics, but then he gets sick again he needs a longer or stronger round of antibiotics.
Have the done a culture to see if a specific antibiotic will help? Or possibly a fungal infection that needs a different type of med?
