Well, yes, the oxygen does dry out your sinus cavities and some folks use a humidifier with the concentrater or a room humidifier. Also saline nasal spray and a gel called AYR are real good to keep the passages moist. I would check with the doctor to make sure you do not have an infection also. I also use a nettie pot when I get really conjested.(distilled water and saline packets)

yes, i have to use the humidifier bottle on my concentrator and i run a room humidifier (most comfortable when humidity is around 40%---they sale cheap temp/humidifiers to put in a room).
also the nose gel, there are several kinds; it is finding the one that works best for you.
try different cannula as some i like better than others, so it doesn't rub & make sores.(i prefer the curved ones)

also the infection BJ commented on, when i 1st got on 02 i went way to long to find out it was infected & dr gave me antibiotic cream to heal.

My dad had this problem and he sometimes adds the humidifier to the O2 concentrator. It helps a lot. Use only distilled water though to prevent bacterial infection. His concentrator came with an attachment to add the water to it, and the technician that came out showed us how to add it on.

Also he uses Ocean sinus spray. Not the one for cleaning sinuses but the one for moisturizing.

I have had lifelong sinus problems-----sinus surgery at age 6. My Pulmonary suggested "AYR Saline Nasal Gel" It helps me a little.

Lincare sent me low flow nasal cannulas for under 2lpm. They were real pointy on the tips & the O2 seems to move faster. I had dryness, headache & facial pain across the bridge of my nose & sometimes the top of my head . I got different cannulas after that. In the meantime I snipped off the pointy end just a tad & the problems stopped.

Ohana brings up a useful point (pun not intended Ha). The nasal cannula is a very important part of Oxygen Therapy, and for that reason they come in a wide variety of shapes, stiffness, lengths, and sizes. One is not limited to whatever the supplier might have on the truck. You can purchase your own (most are relatively inexpensive), but often if you let your supplier know what specific type you would like to try they can get it for you at no cost.

i agree with the others that the type of canula can make a difference.
I usually think of my nose getting dry, but drying out the sinus' definitely happens!

I was happy with my concentrator bottle helping, but with summer here, I have been going out more & of course my tanks don't have a humidifier bottle on them.
so I am dealing with this same problem now!!!

there are a lot of things that help my nose, but for me, the saline sinus sprays dry me up more & the netti pot is great for clearing out sinus, but also dries me up afterward.

i've been trying to "find" a sinus lubricant spray, kind of like eye lubricants, that DOESN'T have saline. = not an easy task.

has anyone else found a "lubricant" for sinus? i would think it needs to be a spray to get it up there. (or even if nettie pot had a moisture additive)
this does hurt! and causes me a sinus headache on top of the pain under my eyes!

has anyone tried; RHINARIS NASAL LUBRICANT MIST or NOZOIL?

Jarca I have tried an oil in the nose but it was a preparation made for me by a holistic health practitioner...it worked well forrmy sinus problems...but I never ran it by my doctor....I haven't used it recently becausei can't afford to go to the holistic guy any more

WOULD LIKE TO SHARE SOMETHING MY MOTHER TAUGHT ME YEARS AGO TO CLEAR SINIUS. I HAVE DONE THIS FOR YEAR AND IT ALWAYS WORKS. SOUNDS GROSS, BUT IS OLD FASHIONED AND WORKS BETTER THAN A NETTY POT. FILL BASIN WITH VERY WARM WATER AND ADD SALT(ENOUGH TO TASTE IT WHEN YOU SNORT THE WATER) CUP YOU HAND AN SCOOP UP SALT WATER AND HOLD ONE SIDE OF NOSTRIL CLOSED. IT WILL GO DOWN INTO YOUR THROAT, COUGHT IT OUT IN TOILET OR BASIN AND REPEAT UNTIL YOU CAN BREATH THROUGH NOSTRIL FREELY. DO BOTH NOSTRILS. THIS SHOULD CLEAR SINUS OUT FOR JUST ABOUT THE WHOLE DAY. HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU

Thank you all so much for all your suggestions. I've tried them all except this last one from Eleanor. Will try it next. I hate the neti pot, but did it. This snorting one sounds as bad or worse than the pot!! But at this point I'll try anything. A neighbor suggested coconut oil both in the nose, like Ayr, and drinking (can't believe I didn't think of it since I use it for everything). Thought it worked yesterday, but today NO!! Tired essential oils. Got the humidifier for O2, NO. Back to doc I guess--going to tell her if she can't fix it to please recommend a ENT or allergist. Going to look into the inhalers, especially Advair, possibly. Keep remembering a doctor I had years ago told me had a patient whose vocal cords were paralyzed due to Advair. I didn't use that anymore until 2011 when I had more flare ups.

Bless your heart blueiris, I cannot imagine a lifetime of this!! I'm gonna keep looking and try the snorting suggestion from Eleanor, also might give coconut oil another try--will let y'all know if I find anything that works for me.
