The nurse doesnt seem to be very helpful. In his/her defense from a narrow-point of view the symptoms under the conditions you are describing are not those usually associated with COPD.

You mentioned that you are hyper and usually wake up every hour; neither sounds good. Talk to a doctor.

It is my experience that CO2 retention can cause headaches. And if you are a CO2 retainer, more oxygen taken in also means more carbon dioxide build up in your system.

When is the last time you had an arterial blood gas done?

ive never had a blood gas done,and there may be something to the co2 retension,when i puslip breath my head ace start to go away,2 cups of coffee also helps,the only time i get the headace and hyper is when i try to use my oxygen at nite

have you cu down coffee recently?
withdrawal from coffee can cause severe headaches.
or do you take meds at night that can be causing it?
i've been having horrid headaches at night & it turned out I have a sinus infection.
as gnott pointed out, so many things can cause headaches that it's hard to pin point the cause.

do you have a room humidifier or use the water bottle on your concentrator? dried out sinus' will cause headache also.....try room humidifier if you are in a dry climate, it may help.

lhanks 4 the replies,give me somthing to go on,my sinisis have been full for acouple of months but i have no face pain,was givin antibios but they didnt clear ir,it seem to be lessening on its own,also have a summer cold,so there is alot goin on,but the head ace from nite oxy started on day one,and i only get the head ace and the morning hyper when i try to use the nite oxy,i remember the first time,started at 10 pm,at 2 am immobilized headace,a friend brought me 2 cups pf coffee,in about 15 min head ace gone,it dialates the blood vessels in the brain,dont know what im goin 2 do at this point,i check my o2 with the meter at nite and its consistenly 95 to 97

i used to always get a headache at 2pm (back when work started at 5am)
the dr said it was "cluster migraine" & she could give me bp pill that would dilate my vessels.

i told her why would i take a pill when a cup of coffee & a candy bar made it go away?

is your 02 95-97% with or without wearing the 02?
have you had a sleep study?
I would definitely talk to dr about it.Sleep studies can reveal a lot of things.
as gnott said it may be related to something other than the 02, or maybe the 02 shrinks your blood vessels?

I have been having consistent morning headaches and since my blood gas shows that my co2 is elevated, I have an appointment for a sleep study. If they determine my levels remain elevated through the night, my doc advises it will be treated with CPAP or BIPAP.
