I work in medical facilities and last year got several colds- I was trying to use hand sanitizer, but it really damaged the skin on my hands. I found Gold Bond moisturizing sanitizer in a doctor's office and I really like it- doesn't eat your skin - I had to order off Amazon, as the local drug and grocery stores don't seem to carry it- Just an fyi for folks who might like it-

Cool Thank you. I did cashiering at Kmart before I was approved my SSD, I found out the hard way that I cannot use hand sanitizer...I had an instant reaction, and couldnt even do my job, I had to close my register and wait for it to pass....Ill have to look for it here, As I am planning on returning to work, in a new career in a Healthcare office....

THANKS! Good to know there is a less chafing alternative.

I picked up SO many colds this year from visiting my Dad in memory care. There is no way to get any ventilation in that place, and there are STILL ppl sick in there and it is almost JUNE!!!!!

Doctors are beginning to recommend AGAINST using hand sanitizers because they kill too much bacteria (we do need some). I always wash my hands with soap and water when I come home from anyplace, even if I don't think I've touched anything. I only use hand sanitizer it when I cannot get to regular soap and water

I agree about the handwashing- in medical settings, sanitizer has proved helpful in preventing the spread of disease. I also have issues with washing my hands as many times as they are potentially contaminated, (20 on a good day?) so I blend handwashing with the sanitizer.

OT Mosty....I am getting ready to enter the healthcare field. I am a little worried that all the new and constant exposure will cause problems for my COPD. Until my immunity builds back up. How is it working Heathcare with COPD for you....Just wondering?

I am an environmental health specialist, which means that I get exposed to the worst environmental hazards- Medical facilities are generally cleaner than the average non medical place, so that is a plus. Typically, I am aware when people have communicable diseases, too, so that is a plus. Sometimes I think I need to find a different job, but I also like the fact that I am walking around alot during the day- better than a desk job..Good luck with your new endeavor-
