I have never had this happen unless I got dick with bronchitis, I am very short of breath. Slot of coughing with little mucus. Feel scared. I am out of state on vacation. Pollen is heavy. May be a cause. Amy ideas
If you have a good relationship with your dr, and are in the same state, it might be worth a call to him & he can call you in a prescription---but I believe that Dr's can only prescribe in the state that they are licensed; so if you are in a different state your own dr may not be able to help you.
otherwise;
I would try to get into a walk in type clinic or go to an ER in the area as soon as possible.
We can get bad in a short time when something is in our lungs that I think it is important to get in as soon as possible.
This won't help you much now, but, In the future, many of us have had our PCP give us a supply medication to take on a journey "just in case".
Is there darker hue to your mucus yellow, rust and/or thicker than usual?
Using your Oximeter is your pulse unusually consistently above 100?
Is your breathing rate noticeably faster (above 24 / minute). Bordering on panting even when using purse breathing?
If any of the above seek out the nearest ER immediately - May be pneumonia. In the early stages almost impossible to tell the difference between acute bronchitis and pneumonia. Either needs immediate treatment.
Have your symptoms, the number of the local pharmacy and the number where you can be reached.
Also, the advice about the urgent care center is good and you might also think about the local emergency room. don't wait to get some help.
