Make sure you take it with food. It can be nasty on the stomach. Eating yogurt helps a lot. And you'll probably want to be prepared for the good old yeast infection that you will likely get. If you get thrush in your mouth, (very sore tongue and gums, with perhaps white areas), ask your doctor for a Nystatin Rx to swish and spit after you've finished the Doxycycline.
I hope you feel better soon.
Hugs, Sue
Wow it has been a rough day............wasn't sure if they were giving me the right stuff but am reading up on things and it looks good.
sort of dread the yeast infections though LOL.......
wow Staph infection in your lungs sounds pretty serious! sorry you had that!
it does say chest pain is a common side effect and it has subsided already.
This is a scary disease........I never realised until I got worse and did more reading!
thanks so much Sue and hope you are doing well also!
Anyway msidgy, giving you Advair for one week is wrong. This is something that needs to be taken continually twice a day so hope you can get your meds squared away. You should probably be on Prednisone as well to control imflammation. Just make sure to eat a banana before taking it. I got terrible leg and foot cramps before but once adding the potassium no more.
Sorry for all your trouble. Hope you are getting more help soon and a good lung doc to guide you. You are in my thoughts and prayers...
Curt
Kyle I have been forwarned about the diahrrea gads i can never spell that word.............not looking forward to it but at least maybe it means this med has some punch.
Well about the Advair........we got in a debated discussion about changing meds because I just went in to get an antibiotic and when he first started rattling off stuff I panicked wondering how would I buy this stuff. anyway I can't take my Serevent while taking the Advair so he meant for me, for now.......to go back to the serevent when this is gone...........But what is nice.....I see on the
Advair pkg it is the same company I get my Serevent for free from......SO I am quite sure that they would have the Advair so I can get an RX and mail it in to them. I am approved for free Meds for a year.....it is my 3rd year with them. I get them mailed to my house, the WB and the Serevent........It will take a bit, perhaps I can get another sample or two when I go back in in two weeks. and get this ordered through the company.,
yes the Medrol I mentioned is methyprednisolone or something or other so yes it is prednisone.
As much as I don't care for this doc, at least he is gearing me in the right direction, so perhaps I should appreciate him more.
Woke up this am with a little trouble breathing.......but am getting better now. Took the prednisone and waiting for the right time to take the antibiotic and my Spiriva
I think Advair has prednisone type stuff in it........so yeah I understand now I need to change the Serevent to Advair.
It is so strange how we aren't too unhealthy, then Bam everything goes downhill and here we are ........our table covered with RX's , meds, inhalers, nebulizers, kleenex BP monitor, O2 concentrator...........well you get the scene LOL
had some chest pain this am but I think it is just from the doxy and it is sore from everything. Wow for a bit there last night after I posted I felt calm and normal.
Curt thanks for letting me know how well you did on the Doxy......that is good news to hear. Glad you are OK right now.
Well, another day and it should be better as the meds work.
oh forgot to mention my O2 level was down to 92 yesterday .......he said it could be from the sickies I have..........I may have to do more hours on the oxygen.........ie add some daytime hours............
