That is a lot like i feel. A bit of pressure on my chest. Bottom of my throat sometimes also. Not pain just discomfort. I've started the tests and have been talking to doctors and P.A.s. Not a Pulmonary specialist so far. Have you seen a doctor yet. Mine are not saying much. This is a pretty knowledgeable group.

Could it be GERD - acid reflux? Common problem for us...

Not acid reflux. My diaphram aches often too. I think maybe it's just my lungs having a hard time working. I probably need to use the Spiriva more regularly although I don't feel it or the "rescue inhalants"
help much.
Going to try water aerobes again although my knees are shot. We'll see...

Dan,I just see my g.p. for annual physical. Finally gave me the blow test 2 years ago and the result cleared up some wondering on my part. I don't intend to pursue more testing at 78. Glad for this forum.

In my pulmonary rehab group, some people who take Spiriva said they "couldn't feel it working." Our rehab specialist reminded us that it is a 24-hour medication and is not going to provide relief that you necessarily "feel." Please be sure to take your medication, even if you don't notice the effect. It is probably helping you nonetheless.

I agree with Aviara that the Spiriva should be taken as prescribed. I really don't think it's intended to be treated as a rescue inhaler if I interpret your comment correctly - unless, of course, you weren't prescribed to take it regularly. I take mine daily in the a.m.. Could be you need additional medication or maybe the Spiriva is what's irratating your throat in which case maybe another inhaler should be tried. (you could probably get a free trial from prescriber which tend to require daily usage for 30 days)

None of the meds I take pack a wallop. But over time I feel good.

There may be some GERD along with lung stuff. The two can king of aggrevate each other.

It is easy to aspirate from GERD and then get some gunk down the old wind pipe!

Thanks for the replies. Since I do have discomfort I will be more diligent about taking the Spiriva. I do understand why and what I'm supposed to do. Any chance of it going generic in this century?: )

i get the lump at the bottom of my throat that kind of feels there is a restriction there. my lungs ache around my heart. something about the pueral walls.
not sure if that is what you feel or not.
i don't "feel" the spiriva work. but a few weeks after i started i noticed that i was having a more productive cough

i understand the cost part of the spiriva, it is hard for us on a fixed income to get it!! there is a way to get it from the company if you can't afford & but are too rich for state or federal help.

darn i can't find the link to spiriva that has the form to fill out; anyone have that?

Spivria is a maintence drug and needs to be taken daily for it to work. If money is an issue you can purchase it from ADC for a fraction of the cost. You would order Tiova rotocaps. Many of our drugs are available from them. They charge $25.00 for delivery so I usually order 6 months at a time.

I get Spiriva from a "Canadian" company and it comes fromTurkey!

I've have spit for help from Pfizer when it comes to any patient cost assistance with Spiriva and since I'm on 5 repiratory drugs - all expensive and have a problem with the Medicare Gap (famous donut Hole) - I long since fled the country for Spiriva, Advair, Theophylline 24, Proventil and any drug that hits Medicare for $200.00 and up. I know your first reaction will probably be HECK NO!!! BUT put up a post out hear about a website called "www.alldaychemist.com". It's based in India. I have 1 drug (not respiratory related) that I get thru Canada because they don't have it at ADC. It actually comes from Turkey. The monthly cost is $69.00. The US price is $300.00 plus. The site for the Canadian Pharmacy is "www.CanadaPharmacyOnline.com." Put up a post about both these drug sites and see how many of us out here use them. My pulmonary doctor knows I use them. j.h., I haven't slept on my back in years, I sleep on my side, and when I do try and sleep on my back I am so uncomfortable it is impossible. This is one of the issues I would present to your doctor on your next visit. For me stretching to breathe is something I have only recently started to do, and I am a touch further along that you.
