Well the easiest way to keep someone around/interested, in spite of some liability, is to either be or become fabulously wealthy. Resolves most issues.

The other suggestion is advice you already know we have all been told often enough but in many ways the hardest Get comfortable with yourself.

for me, having several marriages & divorces (5), I decided I was a bad "picker" and it was time to work on me.
After my last divorce (1998) I put it in my higher powers hands; if I was meant to have a man in my life, one would drop out of the sky & hit me on the head.

Still single :)

However, I haven't gotten to the "barely function" part yet. I've slowed down and had to find "new normals" several times, but I try to focus on what i can do, not what I can't.

Somehow a beagle just dropped into my life, but not a man--- go figure :)

Geeze dating what is that....Its been so long I barely remember.lol....Having this disease and trying to date at your age you are young.I would think is hard to do....I cant help you because I havent wanted to date anyone since my hubby passed many years ago,,,,,Maybe some of the younger members could better advise you ,,,,,good luck

Just read your post and had to smile - the only dates I have are those circled on my calendar and the mere thought of the romantic kind leave me breathless, if not brain dead. If it weren't for this dang disease I'd be fabulously wealthy and gorgeous. And energetic. And less crotchety. :-) Very comfy with what I have at the moment but an occasional bash on his head with a mallet takes care of his other notions. :-)

I decided years ago that I don't do marriage well, so why bother with dating. And I haven't missed it, although it would be nice to have someone to just go out with once in awhile for dinner or a movie or whatever. But as far as a relationship, I'm just not interested these days and am sure I never again will be. Just too much trouble.

Yeah right...I joined a senior dating site just to see if i could make a few friends around my area. not much luck. on my bio i did say about my health and would like someone to go eat with or just to talk to. met 2 but they are in worse shape than me, go figure.

I gave up dating and watch lots of movies. It's actually a scary thought for me.

Haha, Grace, so long as they're uber wealthy, content with a teensie peck now and then and well past their sell-by date, who the heck cares? Enjoy whatever comes your way - nothing is permanent these days so live for the moment. :-)

I'm happily married & have been for 12 years so my dilemma isn't the dating part...it's the sex part or should I say "lack of" part?! between having advanced copd & Pulmonary Sarcoidosis I'm SOB a lot or in pain...I'm so lucky he is understanding & truly loves me because we used to have a great sex life but has suffered now for many years! hugs to ya!

At the point I'm at, in my late 40's when I think to myself, "I'm single" relief floods over me and I smile and go do whatever I want.

Since my husband died 11 months ago after 35 years of marriage I would welcome a nice friendship even though I have COPD. If they had a illness that's fine. I don't expect at my age to have another "Love of my life" just hate being lonely and alone all the time. Sigh. Linda
