Thank you !!I have had it for five years now. But recently it has got worse.I had a really bad spell a month or so now and I still feel really bad. My back hurts, and I can't walk from one room to the next and I live in a small house.

Are you on oxygen ? Sometimes a bad cold takes time to recover. I have been on oxygen for 6 years and get very short or breath just walking from room to room.

No my Doctor won't give it to me!! He says I'm to young at 50 years old. Plus I'm still smoking although he has put me on some meds to realty. He won't give me anything for pain like this last time he told me I had bruised about four or so ribs. And the middle part of my back.

I don't just won't pain pills I'd love not to be taking anything!!

If you need Pain Meds then you should take them...If you feel it does not warrant Opiates then you can go on something like Tramadol......These do have side effects but as long as you stick to the recommendation, it is not an addiction but a dependence......You can get the pain situation under control when you reduce the need for strong meds by moving over to more common OC ones and get into a routine, set by a Pain Clinic.

Sounds to me you need to go back and reaccess your entire exercise and general well being program....

When I go back next week we are gonna have to and do something because right now what we are doing isn't working that's for sure!!

Hello. 87, emphysema for 10 or so years, hear where you are coming from. First, you need a new doctor. These doctors who with hold relief from suffering patients because of some ideology of their's should be disbarred,or whatever. Second, get oxygen. Keep asking for it until you get it. Third, you need inhalers, for regular, daily use and a nebulizer for bad times. And you need to keep on hand for flare ups a supply of prednisone. AND, you need Hydrocodone for pain and a codeine cough syrup for those coughs. And an over the country mucus relief preparation.The Hydrocodone and codeine cough syrups are hard to get. You will run up against doctors who tell you it is addictive and bad for you-- that is crap. I was given a prescription for 45 hydrocodone pills last Dec.first and I still have 11 of them .I take one when I really need it and they really help but I have never noticed any tendency to become addicted.I don't know why do tots are so determined to with hold relief from suffering patients when there is so much help available. You just need a better doctor.

Yes I'm hear I've had some bad days. I do have 2 inhalers and a nebulizer but lately they just don't seem to be working as good as they first did.As far as the Prednisone I was on it one pill daily and he took me off of it.He said I didn't need to be on it daily. I was supposed to go back this week but they called and cancelled till Monday. So I guess I have to wait till Monday unless it gets so bad that I have to go to ER.

Take inhaler meds as prescribed.

Ask your doctor to check your lungs to be sure you do not have a lung infection.

If you are coughing up mucus supply a sputum sample for testing, chest xray may be helpful to determine what is going on and in turn result in getting the correct treatment.

I'm sorry Betty, wasn't trying to leave you out please don't take it that way. It shows I'm online even when I'm not so so sorry about that. I thought I sent back a message sorry. I appreciate all the advice from everyone, the more I get the better I feel.
