cold or sinis

i was started on 2 liters of nite oxy,a couple of days later came down with a really bad cold,is the oxy fron the machine similar to braething cold air,im new at this so i dont know if this caused it or somting else,looking for other ppl who use nite oxy,thanks

Your post is a bit confusing, but I am going to assume you are talking about useing oxygen at night, not the mixture doctors and dentist use.

Colds are caused by a virus, and have nothing to do with your oxygen machine. Make sure you change cannulas regulary, and if you have conjestion, use mucinex to thin the mucous so you can cough it out.

Colds have no cure of course, but since you have copd you need to be very careful and try not to catch anything, by washing hands frequently, staying away from sick people, ect. useing antibacterial gel for your hands...

You may want to see your doctor to make sure it is a cold, especially if you are having a fever and bad cough.

I've been on 24/7 oxygen for over 2 1/2 years and have had just one cold in that time. So, no, that's not the cause of your cold. Breathing cold air doesn't cause a cold, either. Germs are the cause of a cold.

ditto the others---colds/virus' i catch from others (this time of year i try to stay away from public places that have sick people.)

the only thing that 02 did for me was make me feel better & my Sp02 numbers get up where they belong.
02 did tend to dry out my nose & throat, but i did "the common" remedies for that.

you seem to be rather worried about wearing 02, have you talked to your dr about your concerns?

yes i talked to my doctors nurse as noted in another post,am not comfortable with the nurse or the doc anymore,when i get over this nasty stuff i have im goin to try the o2 again,if i get the same results then what,the medical community has lost most of my trust,my gp is the worst,got taken over by a conglomeate,only 15 min calls are allowed,if more than one thing wrong you need 2 appointments

once you are over this cold, maybe you should have an at home sleep test done.
my 02 company will do those for free as part of their service.
it will show what your sp02 level is when you are sleeping while wearing your 02.

sorry bout te rant but it gets frustrating dealing with todays medical ppl, dont always feel im gettin good service being on medicare,some of the docs at my clinic wont take medicare!
