I'm not sure Serenity regarding your muscles, did you ask your doc about it. In usual circumstances I would say yes you can re strengthen the muscle. My mother after an operation lost a lot of weight and muscle through lack of use, eventually through re-using her muscles as she got well and was able to move round more, she did regain muscle tone and strength.
Normally through exercise we strengthen our muscles.
What you might want to investigate Serenity is maybe ask your doc what exercises will help you strengthen and regain muscle use in those limbs you are concerned about the most and even ask if he can advise you a general routine for strengthening and maintenance of the entire body.
I hope you can get some good help and advice from your doc on this.
Keep doing your daily walks if you can even, inside if you are a bit unsteady to walk out at the moment.
Take good care.
