They are a might price, but it is comforting to know how muc O2 you have at the end of that 50 or 100 feet of line...

I had to drag my oxygen tube into the l/r last night and all 6 of my cats followed it around...........made me a bit worried. I usually just use it in the bedroom......so they don't mess with it........and I also have "spare" tubing should I need it...........might wanna check with your supplier just to have some back up:):)

I do not have a cat to worry about anymore, and my little grandson ignores the tubing streached out across the floor, unless it is on his toys then he tells me in toddler babble to move it off his toy!!!
Our pets are priceless, and more so our grand babies...

One way to stop them if they are chewing a lot is to use bitter apple. Spray it on a rag and wipe down the hose (or whatever you want them to leave alone) with it. every so often...

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a pet. After I had the pulmonary emboli and was told I couldn't fly any longer - due to COPD as well- my son gave me a kitty who is older and has a heart problem that is treatable. He is so loving, silly, and wonderful that I would never get rid of him. The pulmonologist who I just removed from my list of Drs, told me I cared more about my cat then I did about my health.

I am an often lonely widow and I will not remove my loving companion from my life but that was not the only thing she was nasty about. She was furious that I wouldn't take steroids while still in moderate stage COPD. I have this silly idea that it is still my body and if I do lots of research too, and listened to what my body said when I was trying Advair, that I have a right to have a reasonable discussion about what I put into that body.

And so it goes........

Denny, Grannick's Bitter Apple Spray has 20% isopropanol. Isn't that alcohol and wouldn't it be a fire hazard if O2 is leaking out of the hose??

I'm probably way off base about this. I hope I am because it's a great idea.

my supplier gave me one of those inline flow meters and i found out that the meter on my machine was 1/2 L off!!!
i love the little thing just to check with now & then.
mine goes up to 8L & lincare gave me one to travel with also, so i can always test when i'm not sure.
i always keep an extra set of lines (i like to run 4-10foot sections with swivels & then my canula is 7' so i can get around everywhere & you never can tell just when dragging them around you'll close it in a door (i have anyway :)--- so it's nice to have extra lines, extra swivels & the line checker just to be safe !
i'm with you cindy! i just lost one dog and have her daughter left to give me joy, if i didn't have a pet, i'd have to talk to myself and then people would think i'm crazy LOL

The isopropanol is a solution thinner and acts as a drying agent. We use alcohol in many of our cleaners (alternatives to scented commercial items) and never had a problem. You'd have to bring an open flame to it while it is still wet to cause it to ignite...

LOL my O2 delivery has to send me 2 packs of tubing everyweek. I thought I had my cats under control with a spray bottle of water but now they get it when I can't see them. They aren't happy until they can get the air. But I love them and can't do with them..

My little darling (devil) does the same thing. I tried the sour apple spray and lemon peel. Nothing seems to stop her. I have taken 2 of my CPAP hoses and put my hose into them. I try to keep the hose off the floor. At night I loop it over a door, then over a clothes rack. After that it goes into the top draw of a dresser then into the bed. I have to cover the drawer with a towel or she will chew on the exposed part. I keep a roll of electrical tape in every room to I can quickly tape over any holes.

I was reading an articular about vicks rub and getting cats to stop scratching on furniture. They don't like the smell and stay away. I wonder if putting some on your tubing would keep them away. Just a thought.

Not in our house...the stupid cats like the smell of menthol....Will lick Icy hot right off of us if we would let them.

Our biggest hose problem is The Train Wreck. A cat who has earned the name.

this may sound mean, but with dogs that chew i rub a light coating of tabasco sauce on the thing they are chewing.
it doesn't kill them and after a taste or 2 they quit.
if a cat is chewing on this it might work (ask your vet to be sure it won't hurt them)
playing with it with their claws i'm not sure what to do.
with my dogs i tried all the "bitter" type animal sprays & it never worked....one taste of tabasco even keeps mine from taking kleenex out of the trash cans.
