Both have symptoms that include shortness of breath, among other respiratory troubles. If you are a COPD or Emphysema sufferer, join...
Inhaling E-Cigs causes immediate airway restriction. This may not be important for healthy users but can have serious consequences for those of us on the edge. I was given one as a gag gift back when they first came out - two drags and I was immediately SOB.
There is NO regulation. This is often pitched as just no FDA regulation, but it goes farther there are no commercial or industry standards for quality or safety. The best example of why this can be a problem is the fact that rechargeable E-Cigs have been known to explode while recharging causing fatalities. In many cases this was shown to be because the user used an incompatible charger. But think of this while many commercial devices can be damaged by using the wrong charger, eg. Cell phones, how many of these devices have explored causing fatalities? Why do cell phones not explode even with incorrect correct charging? There are industry standards.
While it should be common sense, because there is no obvious fire COPD suffers often use E-Cigs while on oxygen. This is a very bad idea. It contains a heating device that can explode with increased oxygen.
While, they appear to be a useful aid to stop smoking IMHO they are dangerous for anyone with moderate to advanced COPD.
I would suggest making your own edibles if not available where you are.
Plus, as Gnott mentioned, they really don't know enough about the effects of vaporizers to know what other problems may arise.

i also used the e-cigs to quit smoking, but i sure wouldn't use them today any more than i would smoke cigarettes.
i'm not sure if this topic is about the e-cigs using the oil or about the marijuana part. if it's about the marijuana part=
i was looking up medical marijuana it seems that just today, the federal ban was lifted by congress;

of course even if medical marijuana is approved to be sold, i think it is mainly for cancer patients & not COPD isn't it? this may actually get interesting now that the feds are out of it :)
I will say that marijuana helps with the anxiety and neck pain I have been dealing with. I quit using a marijuana vaporizer because it was bad on my breathing but worked well on stress, anxiety and pain. I started using marijuana edibles to help with that but decided to quit it all about 5-6 months ago. For one it is too expensive even though I can get it cheaper than the legal states charge. I have gotten some of the edibles available out there. I hope they make it legal here so I can legally acquire it. In California they give it at a low co-pay for low income.
