Yes, the commercial certainly raises my curiosity. I'm waiting for a guinea pig. I'm pleased that somebody out there cares and keeps trying.

I will see Dr. Sanchez on the 24th of this month, and plan on asking him. But I have read ALL the information about it, on it's web site, and I am not impressed. This is just for myself, I hesitate to try something new just put out. I will let you know what his opinion is, however I am very happy with my inhalers now.
Cap, did you go to the valve procedure thing? Just wondering, I get folks confused at times,

It's an odd bit of a commercial too. They sort of bank on copd people liking the idea that asthma patients can't take it. Myself I'd be more comforted by the thought that a drug works so well it can make a lung work better in a bunch of different situations. A commercial that goes more like, "got a lung problem? Don't matter what it is, this drug is so amazing it will set you right no matter what's wrong with you." I think that'd be the one that impresses me.

My doctor gave me a sample of Breo I used it for about a week or so and went back to symbicort. It didn't seem to help me any. I think it was suppose to replace Advair when the patent runs out.

---i heard once that the drugs they advertise on tv have just finished study's to pass on to the next stage of public testing, that is why they are advertising.
not sure if its true, but i always see things advertised & then recalled for some reason...or later you don't see the ads cuz they passed with the public guinea pigs so now can sell without advertising it.
anyone know if that's true?

anyway i won't use things advertised on tv because i don't want to be thier "trial" person...i'll wait till its been around a few years (yeah i'm a chicken, and i agree with joany that bless those that do be guinea pigs for us)

I was just reading all the warnings on the website. Yikes! Some of them look pretty dang serious. I guess it's like that with any med now. They have to cover their asses for everything.

I still believe in the 10 year rule if at all possible. A drug that has been here 10 years, has been thru all the trials, has worked and is still working, no law suits on tv about it, that is the drug I want to use. Not the first one out of the chute, then a couple of years later the commercial "IF you used the drug bnsufc, you may be entitled to a compensation" after folks are dropping dead or having heart attacks.
Jarca, I believe what you say is 100 % correct. They do their advertised studies, but also their silent studies, which is all these are, just to see if it works.
The doctor gets goodies to push the drug, and the drug company gets big dollars for having a new drug.
Stick with the oldies, the tried and true ones.

I saw the ad online back in the fail for actors for the roll out commercial for this. Why does no one in these ads seem as though they actually have COPD? The ad sure didn't have that as a requirement.

We had a discussion sometimes ago about that,Promises. About how folks just do not take COPD seriously. One has a man or woman having a shortness of breath (Or rather they calll it difficult to breath) and then they take symbicort and WHAMBAM!!! Suddenly they are able to go running down the lawn after grandkids, climbing up and down stairs at no effort, go hiking and fishing, dancing, and a lot o stuff. Yes, we can do all those things, but not like a person that has no lung problems, which is what the actors are.
None of the copd ads are telling what it is really like to have this disease. Yes, sometimes we have difficulty breathing, and yes we have copd, but our real world is different than the ad. Symbicort is very good, I use it, but still have a problem getting from here to there
This other one is just more of the same, they make it seem like all copd is , is getting a bit short of breath and all you have to do is use your inhaler, and you are super woman or man.

Well im on Onbrez (Arcapta) n its really great for me....also I use the inhaler to inhale my Spiriva cap....So much more feel that you are actually getting it way into the lungs than the handihaler....

There r side effects listed on just about every med on the market...I do not really worry too much as long as there are no issues with using it in conjunction with other meds im currently on....

My doc gave me a 14 day sample to try . . . I took the sample and read the fact sheet . . . called the doc back and said "I thought you were treating me (in part) for athma?" he said well uhhhhh yes and I said the freaking drug is proven to cause "PREMATURE DEATH IN ASTHMA PATIENTS" and he said duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh . . . . . didn't take the med . . . now they adbertise it "NOT FOR ASTHMA PATIENTS."
