Deep green veggies, fruits, low fat, high fiber diets seem to be the answer to many health problems.
Best wishes to you.
Broccoli is definitely one of the foods I'm putting on my list to eat more of. Luckily I like that flowery veggie a lot and like putting it in salads.
Two tablespoons of broccoli seed yield almost a quart of sprouts.
Broccoli sprouts are my favorite sprouts.

In another discussion post, a member has had improvement in breathing and lost weight by cutting out refined carbs, and sugar.
It is a good idea to avoid all processed and smoked meats sugar dairy produce and fast carb snacks chocolate soft drinks etc.
Lots of raw vegetables salad and raisin snack and two meat free days a week. are a good idea but not for those who struggle to retain weight.
I imagine they are good for COPD but as far as fiber and bulk are concerned, whole broccoli would probably be better for our bodies?

I don't consume processed meats but will have smoked meats such as Ham or Bacon once in a blue moon.
I don't eat sugar (all my baking is done with Splenda). I don't see anything wrong with soft drinks since I always drink sugarless, caffeinated soft drinks.
As far as "chocolate" is concerned I've read the opposite - especially regarding the latest studies on chocolate and its many health benefits to people of all ages.
I myself always keep a glass jar of unsweetened cocoa around that buy from my favorite organic grocer.

I grow broccoli sprouts in mason jars on my kitchen table. You can buy organic broccoli seed from a health food store. A tablespoon of seed produces about a quart of sprouts.
It's very easy to sprout. I also sprout garbanzo beans, lentils, mung beans, wheatberries and peanuts.

I have posted this info a number of times but I guess the people are always changing and new people coming in. I used to get lung infections every few months and of course they would put me on prednisone and antibiotics and in a couple of weeks I would get over the problem. This went on for the first year of the discovery that I had emphysema. I thought there has to be a better way then dealing with these infections every few months. I did a lot of searching and came up with SSKI. It is potassium iodide The point is, I have had only one lung infection in about 3years. You can find the info on it at the Tahomaclinic.com They have a paper on it and a lot more info. It is super cheap but you have to look for it at various places. I buy mine from world organic for about $3 for 2 oz bottles. You only use a few drops a day or if you feel like you are coming down with a lung problem, you might increase the amount. The MD Dr. Wright who wrote the paper mentions a couple other things because there is only one side effect, everything seems to have a side effect, you might want to have your thyroid checked now and then. You really do not have to put up with these periodic infections.
