- Heinlen...love him. Have space suit will travel was my first go round with him, it was standard reading for the grade 8 english class I was in.
- Lamour... Lol, I have all of his westerns except 5 or 6 as well as his full novels like Walking Drum. You've good taste my man, very good taste.

There is a writer named Roger Zelazney who did a series of books beginning with "9 princes in Amber" truelly the best escapist literature I've ever read. Astonishing. I never really intended to read them but the 1st book was sitting on my friends coffee table and while he was out of the room I picked it up for a look. I'd only got 2 or 3 pages in when he returned but I was already hooked and talked him into lending it to me. I actually have it in a digital file if you want to read it. I can also direct you to a free book reading program that turns text to speech and is so close to a human voice it would astonish you. It even has an english accent. Lol....It's how I get most of my reading in these days.

I love true stories, mysteries strange happenings, true crime, bible history, religion and its history, archeology, nova, cosmos, anything that has some adventure in it, some mystery, and I can also read detective stories, anything but westerns, I live in Texas, so get enough of that everyday. Just finished reading "12 years a Slave" it won an award for best picture, and best actor, and I do not know if it is a true story, but it was one good read!!!

Yes, I'm big on archaeology and history of early civilizations especially Roman, Greek, and Egyptian. I really like historical fiction written on these topics. Books where a great author takes historical fact and weaves a fictional story around it. James Michener was great at that. You could get an education on the history of any number of places, incidents, people and not even be aware of it because the story built around it was so good.
Texas....big sky country don't they call it? I'd be happy to live just about anywhere right now so long as it was warm. Lol

I love historical fiction. Can't stop reading about the middle ages. Fascinating stuff.

Zig, I am into spy, detective, mystery, shoot them ups -- and the like. I love reading, and will read anything but a romance novel, And I even read one of those. (My Daughter wrote a romance novel for middle schoolers). But when I get sick, my reading is the 1st skill that slips, I just can't pay attention. Take care, Enjoy your reading, Bill

Twelve Years A Slave is true. It is Solomon Northup's autobiography. It is next on my list of books to read.

Zig, I also enjoy James Michner books.and those like him. But I am a Steven King fan also...
Once I had over 300 books in my garage, because I would read one then put it away. It was like new. My daughter came over, had a yard sale and what did not sell she donated.
Then she bought me a kindle and I am still getting use to the darn thing, but it holds thousands of books !!!
And what is really nice, thousands are free!! So I have a kindle full of good reading that I keep around.
But I still like to feel that book in my hand every so often. I have been reading true stories of children kidnapped by their other parent and taken to another country and the first parents quest to get them back, as long as it is true, and has a bit of mystery and action, I will read it.
Bill, I sometimes read the romantic adventures of Victorian ladies, which is sometimes funnier than risque.
This one I am reading now, the Earl had to marry this lady because he saw her stumble and fall on the grass, and he ran to help her. Just about the time he grabbed her, her daddy walked out, and seeing his daughter being hugged by a man..........well.......

A subject close to my heart since reading has been my escape from the time I grew up as an only child out in the country. It has been a gift through every crisis I have gone through, including Don's death from cancer - took me awhile to concentrate after that though. My sons put a magnet on my refrigerator which says "Here lives a Book Junkie". I am still having trouble with the Kindle because I love the feel of a book in my hands but I have so many books on the shelves waiting for me too. I know how to find good buys and have a favorite book store plus Amazon. How quickly time goes then.

I love historical fiction, best selling mysteries, poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay and others; many classical novels - just finished Jane Eyre which I hadn't read in so many years and it was wonderful. Recent favorite novels were The Kitchen House and the Aviator's Wife.
