I have an electrostatic air cleaner on my furnace which filters the whole house when the heat or A/C are on. I've heard varying reports about the effectiveness of room air cleaners, and I've heard that the "ozone" air cleaners are downright dangerous. Can't tell you specifics, sorry! I haven't heard of he ozone ones, but I also have shopped alot for them yet. Was the one you have expensive to install? I can't do it here, we're renting, but plan to buy within the year so it's something we can shop around for in the meantime.

I don't remember the price exactly. A few hundred. But worth it! It's not like the furnace filters that you normally change. This has a special kind of filter that can be vacuumed occasionally, and then we change it at least quarterly. I would call a heating contractor when you get around to buying. We installed a new furnace about 12 yrs ago. I think you can have them added on to existing furnaces.

The ozone ones may be off the market by now. Haven't seen them advertised lately.

I have two.. one in the living room and one in the kitchen. The one in the living room has a special filter to remove smoke from the air as I live with a smoker. It also has an ultra violet lamp in it. They both seem to help a lot in keeping the air I breath cleaner. I have noticed that I very seldom have to dust the furniture all I have to do is clean the filters monthly. Another plus is my dog loves it he lays where the fans blows.LOL..

I have 2 one in my sitting room and the other in my bedroom,i must admit i find a great difference since having them,like grannyev said you don't have to dust as much.

Hmmm, the not dusting as much is enough for me. LOL That's my least favorite chore.
