Today I was thinking about how if I took a break more often, slowed down a little, planned ahead more (so I wasn't rushing around doing alot of stuff last minute) then I could get away with less of my meds. Then it hit me...the whole point of taking the meds is so I don't HAVE to slow down. With them I can go on about my daily life without any problem. Isn't that what we've talked about lately, doing more, living life, not just sitting on the side lines because of limitations?
And why is it I don't think twice about taking a Tylenol for a headache to feel better, yet I hesitate and try to get away with less meds to breathe better? The difference is dependence. Realizing that I'm stuck on those meds every day for the rest of my life to be able to do what I did before without them really isn't going over well with me. Yet the reality if I take the meds, I haven't lost anything. I still CAN do everything I did before so why is it bothering me so much? COPD is nothing new to me, I've always had it. But now I'm being too darn stubborn for my own good to treat it the way I should be without feeing like I've practically got one foot in the grave already.

Was laughing with my daughter today and said I wanted to make up some bumper stickers to put on my O2 machine.
