COPD & Emphysema Support Group
COPD is a progressive disease characterized by airflow obstruction or limitation. Emphysema is characterized by loss of elasticity of the lung tissue, destruction of structures supporting the alveoli and of capillaries feeding the alveoli. Both have symptoms that include shortness of breath, among other respiratory troubles. If you are a COPD or Emphysema sufferer, join...
I have often in the past lashed out at my missus only cos she is the one that happens to be around most of the time....It is usually quick n then it is over for me but for the other party, it can be quite upsetting....Now i bite my tongue before i open my mouth, if angry...
Best and not knowing anything about you is either try an Anger Management Course BUT i think, this is more likely to be taken care of with the help of a good Psychologist that you click with and learn from her how to use CBT in your daily life......
Hope it works sooner than later because most of us, later comes sooner than one expects....
Cheers Peter.
BTW...For me it has nothing to do with the meds im on....I take my Ultibro Inhaler, 10mg Pred every day plus the usual suppliments like Vit.D etc etc......and Xanax for anxiety......maybe you might need an Antidepressant or Anxiety Happy Pill.....

To inject a little humor, it is amazing that all of these steroid-heads don't snap at each other more often.
Also, another observation is that one definition of depression is anger turned inwards. It may also explain why so many folks are depressed.
You are probably suffering from vitamin D deficiency. From the research I have done on vitamin D, 1000 IU of D3 is woefully inadequate.
The optimal daily dose of vitamin D3 for someone with COPD is 10,000 IU daily.
The fallacy of the single cause or causal oversimplification, is a fallacy of questionable cause that occurs when it is assumed that there is a single, simple cause. There are many causes of anger, emotionally and chemically to name a few.
Today, I choose not to get angry; tomorrow, maybe unless...
I do not know how understanding she is of your disease, but the best I can advise is you and your wife visit your family doctor or pulmy if you insist the meds are at fault, and have a heart to heart with the doctor and maybe get referred to a psychologist for some counseling?
Psychologist can not prescribe meds, but they can work with you to find the main reason for your outburst, and if an anxiety or depression pill is needed, the doc can tell your doc and get some ordered.
Some times this darn disease makes me mad and I have mouthed off in anger and hurt a lot of people, most of whom have no idea what I (or we) go thru each day. But with a good pill for depression. Or anxiety another word for anger, I am doing so much better.
I am not saying this is what is wrong, but let the doctors figure it out, and be upfront with your wife that you love her, do not want to be this way, and you are working on it.
God bless you and I hope you get it worked out

Sounds a bit like an old AA saying.......The nile is a river and that has been a fact for centuries......But keep the slogans going!!!
Hi....i have no idea why a link is posted that is akin to an online bookstore that needs to buy to get an answer!!! Just curious that's all....and why are we talking about Anabolic Steroids, Pot-Heads, Steroid-Heads, The ''Freezing weather in Oz'' >>>>Not exactly ''freezing'' in the real sense for anyone else in Europe, US, Canada n some Asian Countries....but colder than usual for OZ THIS WINTER.....It's a warmish sunny 20C n we still say it's chilly....and the sunscreen????
You see im just a tad confused when you throw in AA sayings about being in denial.....
All the OP expressed about his concern about his anger issues and what the consequences might be....AGREE???
and for these reasons i justly or unjustly express my deductions from these replys and please take it ''Humor'' like you expressed as well.

Academics will write themselves out of existence if they keep insisting on boring, impenetrable style and pretending that academic insight is impossible to communicate without loads of pretentious jargon.

This is a friendly post, believe me and look forward to your words of wisdom for John.......
I can read something like that and my eyes just glaze over, makes no sense to anyone but the writer I guess.
johnsgg, I do hope you find someone to talk to and please include your wife, because you are going to need her understanding and patience with this disease. But do it for yourself too, because even tho a burst of anger may free up some emotions, when they hurt others, it is not good.
Well I am rambling and that helps no one....Best wishes

My pulmonary doctor has to be really motivated to order up any testing to see if symptoms I am having are related to the emphysema and so I'm grateful he finally ordered the blood gas. If hypoxia is the culprit then there may be a way to ease the symptoms.
My question is, have you had a blood gas drawn to check your CO2 level? All my best to you.
Anger is definitely a stage of deep grief. And it seems to me that many of us nearing the end of this disease begin a process of mourning for our lives & ourselves. It is, I think, part of how we emotionally prepare for what lies ahead.
