Do any of you have or heard of pulmonary fibrous. I have had several chest x-rays and now the doctor says I have lung scars. I read that Calcified scars are usually caused by previous lung infections such as pneumonia, which I have had 3 or 4 times in the last 10 years. But in some cases, scar tissue can build up and escalate into issues such as interstitial lung disease and pulmonary fibrosis. This really scares me because it says that pulmonary fibrosis can escalate very quickly sometimes, leading to death.
I am going back to the doctor and will try to demand a CAT scan, but here with covered health care you dont always get what you want. I want to know exactly what the scarring is and whether it is going to be potentially deadly.
I am really freaking out. I have been attempting to quit smoking but with the added stress I am finding it really hard to stop the cravings.
I have always been an on and off smoke. Whenever Ive quit before I just did it, I dont understand why with this lung problem I am having such a hard time quitting. The guilt and anxiety is at an all-time high.

Don't stop trying to quit smoking. They first diagnosed my SIL with Chronic Bronchitis but eventually decided it was PF. She was a smoker but quit at the first diagnosis.

But, please, sweetpea, be kind to yourself if you possibly can and put down those cigarettes. I know it's hard, but it's not impossible! Truly. I promise you you will feel better, breath better, and can smell and taste things better, too!

I have quit before....don't know why I'm being so foolish now when I need to smarten up.

I have scared lung tissue as a result of having whooping cough and several bouts with pneumonia as a child. I am long past being a child now..lol
So please read that site on it and hopefully you will have a clearer understanding.
