Can you see a doctor??.....Maybe you need some prednisone?? Do you have a nebulizer??

Can you take some time off work and just rest??? Drink lots of fluids, chicken soup.............see a doctor!!!

I'm with debbear - Doctor is in order here. Oftentimes we could kick ourselves for waiting days, weeks to find out a little "pill" taken once a day can turn things around 180 degrees.

Captstt, I will fall in line with the others, it really sounds like you need to address these issues with your doctor. From you description, it doesn't appear you use oxygen normally when your home, (more on an as needed basis), and I believe you get a very positive affect if you use mucilex on a long term basis not on a 2 or 3 day basis. Again issues you need to talk to your doc about. Take care, Bill

Yep, looks like a call to a doc is in order. It sounds like a lung infection, which is not uncommon for me when I get a cold or other bug. For me that dictates zithromax and prednisone...

I 100% agree with the others. Mucinex, or any med, needs time to work .
But you should see a doctor before this turns into something ugly...

Hi Capt...when you find out please let me know lol...i constantly feel sick so whether its flu or a bug makes little difference. This tightness of the chest or congestion as it appears in researching really confuses both me and my doctor and i put up with it almost constantly now. I hardly cough or have any mucous yet have a blocked nose and dull headache all the time, so i know it must be a sinus issue...Anyway gotta soldier on eh!!! Hope you find an answer...

Hi all. Did the Dr visit. My Dr is an ex-flight surgeon for the Navy and pretty good at what he does. No hes not a Pulmo. Anyway, nurse found out I had a slight fever, 99.3, and my finger meter O2 was at 88.6. Not good. But I just walked into the receptionist area and was barely seated when they called me to go into Exam Room 2. I explained how I came down with the flu symptoms and then he prescribed an injection of prednisone right there and wrote a Rx for oral prednisone and an antibiotic I never heard of called Ciproflaxin. After the shot of prednisone kicked in I could feel a big difference in my breathing and my SOB wasn't as frequent. I went back to work today which demands a bit of walking and physical exertion to prepare the boat for the charter. I was quite content prepping the boat and happy with my improved breathing status. Needless to say, my boss called me and the people cancelled. Probably a good thing, because it enables me to have one more good day of rest. I'm still taking the Advil for my achey joints and slight fever, but all-n-all, I feel much better. Thank you everyone for all of your advice, comments and support. Have a great day.
