My pain has been pretty uncontrollable lately. In some ways I've wiped out months of my life by changing to the wrong medication. So many plans went out the window at a moment's notice. Frustratingly, I was undoing months of progress of physiotherapy.
Then I got myself into quite the quandary. I found a medication that worked really, really well. But only for a little while, and then the bad days were horrendous. My doctor was happy to keep increasing to keep those good days, but I always knew the bad days were coming. And they were so far above my normal threshold of pain, I couldn't even begin to explain. But it was so hard to give those good days up - the days where I could function for longer than normal and even be productive.

I can relate sooooo much. especially the part where it said:
"If someone healthy woke up with the level of pain I live with on a daily basis, they'd be straight into Accident & Emergency begging for help"
Every Dr. i went to said it could not be related to my copd/pf---yet why did all of my joints & muscles get in pain during ONE exacerbation?
and to be treated like a drug seeker when i would go back & say the medicine wasn't working was humiliating!
It got to the point of suicide was the only answer,
finally one GP believed & is treating me! he got me to what i can bear., I still live in pain that most people would go to hospital for,
it saddens me when i tell people that it is NOT my lungs that i cant do things, but my pain.
I have learned to shop online, and do many things "a bit at a time"
what it has robbed me the most of (even with medication that "is working") is the ability to drive over 30 minutes; so it has robbed me of seeing my children, grandchildren & even go to Pulmonary dr's that are so far from my rural community. (not to mention a leisurely drive)

ps. everything i have read says that PF/ILD's cause muscle & joint pain--so i got a new ILD pulm---peter, have you gone to an ILD Specialist? (only 1 in utah-tthey are few) most pulms only know copd, it takes an ILD pulm specialist to know PF/ILD and treat it. (many blood tests for immune diseases & HRCT for honeycombing & glass shards etc. but it is worth it (i hope-at least she acknowledged my pain!)
