Pretty lame. Peter. There's warnings why you don't mix that stuff with other stuff. So a handful of morons decide that the warnings are not for them and clean up the gene pool a mite. The rest of us lose the availability of a drug that would help us. Nanny state tactics. /rant...

Thanks for the link ! The way I read the article is says that one should be cautious when taking Xanax and pain medication. Many of us have other conditions besides COPD so I appreciate the info. Sure, the celebrities mentioned may have taken other recreational drugs, I don't know for sure though, but I doubt that all deaths can be explained that way.

Thanks for sharing that. I still do not understand why you can not get that in OZ !!! A person can accidentally OD on anything, and a cautious, person should know not to mix drugs, and never with alcohol. So are they saying you Aussie's can not be trusted to take meds correctly ? Ha Ha.....I can OD on my ambian, or for that matter, take to many tylenol in one day, and it will shut your liver down...You did right to post this, and I hope it makes folks aware that mixing drugs like that can kill you, but can also help you if taken correctly. I take the smallest dose of xanax made, and it just calms me, but I may not take it but once a month. In my opinion, drugs are like guns..they do not kill.....it is the user behind them that kills.......Thanks for the post.

i ALWAYS read between the lines whenever i read an article that starts off with " EXPERTS SAY....." or " RESEARCHERS SAY....." who ARE these EXPERTS and RESEARCHERS!? the article never really TELLS you ! just another " fluff " article where somebody takes a small fact, { maybe....do you know FOR SURE that you can`t get xanax anymore? seems kind of weird , because at the end of the article, it says you can still get alprazolam.....IT`S THE SAME STUFF!!! } and sensationalizes it with a bunch of made up CRAP to try and make people keep reading it! { journalism 101 } i had to laugh when THEY linked xanax to HEROIN! WHAAAAT!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! HA! anybody with a brain knows that anything done in excess could be harmful. if you try to swallow too much peanut butter at one time, you will probably CHOKE to death! " EXPERTS SAY.... too much peanut butter in your mouth at one time can lead to death....and HEROIN addiction. " so, peter....if you want xanax just ask for alprazolam instead...same stuff. and stay away from too much peanut butter, it could lead to HEROIN! or even worse...JELLY! i`ve done the RESEARCH! HA! { do you really live in OZ? } BREATHE IN.....BREATHE OUT.....

i forgot to mention....i`ve been taking alprazolam, as needed, { as prescribed } for about two years. i am NOT addicted and i have not thought about HEROIN.....EVER! { but my peanut butter addiction is over the top! } BREATHE IN.....BREATHE OUT.....

Like a couple of the others I have been using alprazolam (as prescribed) for well over a year, and have seen nothing but the beneficial aspect of the drug, using it has not made me long for other stuff, nor have I overused.. Yes, Oxyman, if I may speak for Peter. He DOES live in the beautiful land of Oz, which will not sell that drug under any name the way I understand Peter to say. Also, over here in the states, we need a prescription for tylenol #3, over there they sell it over the counter !!! It is a much smaller dose than what we get, but still........I think the Aussies should write their medical community leaders and say they are being denied an essential med because some dummy od'd. They seem to be very strict in Australia, or maybe I am mis understanding, But it really blew me away when I visited, and was so nervous about declaring my "narcotic" tylenol#3, and the agent just shrugged and said, we sell that over the counter. " Every country is different, except maybe here. We can get what ever we are willing to pay for it seems. And as for the celebrities, most of them were on other recreational drugs,m and some took to many of what ever drug, in order to do a better job. Well, it did, it killed them . Look at M. Jackson, who literally had drugs to preform and drugs to sleep, and the stupid doctor kept giving them to him as long as he was making that big money. Hey no probs Denny.....actually my point was that I was on Xanax for 2 yrs in Phil. plus Valium as a PRN and had no issues, in fact it worked really well compared to the Lexapro n Mirtazapine im on now..

Ive tried to put my case to both primary care doc n pulmo, but its a big no......I cannot understand from this article how so many people are prescribed it yet I cannot even get a look in....so yeah im very skeptical about this article n should have made it clearer...

Gwapo, that really sucks !!! You might ask the doctor if that is the ONLY drug that Australians have od'd on? If that drug worked for me, and I have not shown sucicidal or homocidal tendacies, they would have to give a betterr reason than, well to many folks have od'd on it.

Little Asher can really get into the drama act when he is in a snit. He has a favorite book called Baby Llama and Mama Llama, and in the book baby Llama creates all sorts of drama, so now when Asher goes into pout mode, we say "Drama, Llama" and he eventually starts to giggle...
