I just finished a 5 day Z-pack with a "slam" 40mg prednisone per day. "Slam" meaning no tapering with the preds. A term one of my Dr's came up with. I happened to have the meds in my personal 'self-med kit'. Going on day 2 without any meds and I just can't sleep for the last couple of nights. Perhaps its the coming off of the preds thats causing my insomnia the last couple of nights.
You're one day closer on going home mate! Hope you get it under control. You're in my prayers...be safe
White with a hacking persistent cough when up and about? Pneumonia, I'll believe. Got over a bout just a couple of months ago. Doc gave me Levaquin (500mg) for 10 days with a 40 mg prednisone taper. Seemed to work...

I have had a nagging cough for months and now it is not all day long, but when I do cough, up c0mes white or pail phlegm.
I was also put on Levo 500 and a tapering prednisone when it was really bad. When I coughed sometimes it would set off dry heaves, not so much throwing up as forcefully coughing and gagging up over the waste bin.
If it is sinus related, you can take a decongestant because when the mucus from your nose is to much, it runs down your throat and sets off your coughing.
After the levo and prednisone, I am coughing less, but I believe mine is a chronic bronchitis cough, because those can last for a year or two. My last xray showed no pneumonia, so sanchez put me on the levo and steroids.
Hope you get better soon, and do not let this all stress you out, because ou need to be able to get on that plane
Love you my brother.
