Same here, I've isolated myself with my lies, it's not what I intended. We definitely need each other as we navigate through these challenging times.

I'm with you two. I've been practicing mindfulness and have stoped myself before lying twice today.

For me it's not to avoid an argument. It's mostly to inflate my sense of self. I rarely lie about how I feel, where I am, or to hurt or not hurt people. It's always about my life, my accomplishments and occasionally things I've done, places I've been. I've not hurt anyone with my lying or gotten caught. My biggest fear is getting caught or having to tell my partner or friends.

So I almost made it a full day without lying then the bomb drops! Fuck! I lied to someone to act as if I had something in common with them or knew about their culture. One day at a time I suppose.

I am not sure this thread is still talking but I struggle with the same addiction. I lie to hide things that make me feel inadequate in the eyes of others. I lie to protect my pride. And even when I have a way out of my lies, I still lie as if exposure of my wrongdoings, even when welcomed, comes at a cost of my own self respect. Does that makes sense?

Absolutely does.

So I just got caught in another one around debt because my stupid pride would not let me admit that I failed my family. God I am freaking stupid sometimes. So this happened yesterday and the stress from it all is overwhelming. I think sometimes that the relief of the guilt was supposed to relieve my stress over the lies...just feels worse.

A lot of my lies stekmed from money. I lied about finances to my husband constantly because I didn't want the inevitable argument.

Same here....my wife had no idea how bad things were and I tried so hard to keep things under control I just wanted everyone to feel like I had it all under control. That I could give them what they needed. The pride factor stepped in and I could not stop it from coming out.

And the judgement of it...I was so scared of disapproval. I could not handle it.

I did the same. I think some of it came from control issues. I didn't want to let anyone in, so I would lie and then scramble to cover the debt. I wanted to have what I perceived everyone else had, and it didn't matter if we could afford it or not.

I lied about finances too, tried to act like all was fine. Feeling the consequences of it now. I've been through the shame and now I'm trying to repair what I can. It's been hard but I can't give up especially when others depend on me.
