Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group

Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

SWINE FLU

Is anyone as scared to death as I am about this latest epidemic? By that I mean the SWINE FLU. I really am scared, should I just stay home and not go out? What say you all?

I am very scared by this also. Im still going out and things, but I guess just wash hands alot and pray you dont get it!

i am praying that it doesnt come to my town in new zealand other wise i will hide in my house till it all blowen over.

I work in a hospital and can\'t avoid it. I\'m praying that good hand washing and hygiene will make the difference. My Doc says the vaccine won\'t work for me since I won\'t be able to make the necessary antibodies. I can\'t afford the copay for the IVIG and so am between a rock and a hard place. It sounds fatalistic, but I\'m just putting myself in God\'s hands and making sure my affairs are in order. Most of the USA deaths seem to be related to people with "other health concerns" such as asthma. I wonder how may have dx or undx CVID. Good luck to all of us out there. The IVIG, good common sense and excellent illness hygiene should keep you safe. The worst thing you can do is fear the what ifs in life. Enjoy each day as a gift and find at least one thing good in it.

Yeah I agree with you about just putting your fate in God\'s hands, at some point, the stress and anxiety will kill you worrying about it. Especially if you are an RN and are a major bread winner, or even if you are a CNA and need your job to survive, being that jobs are really scarce right now. It seems that Swine Flu scare has passed, but I did not know we cannot be vaccinated against it, Great! Just ask God to protect you, and let God\'s Will Be Done. Those are the words I live by, meantime try to find joy and happiness in each and every day.
