No silly, have you had any situations where you might have contracted AIDS, punctured glove, not wearing gloves and getting into bodily fluids or unprotected sex?
If you have a concern you should get tested.

No Mark, not that am aware. I've cared for pts with HIV/aids and haven't felt like I've been compromised but was just curious even tho CVID is very different, if those with HIV would have similar immunodeficiency results such as low g,m,a,e,d as with those with CVID do since both are immunodeficiency processes. If that makes sense. Just curious if testing is standard in the process. I have not found that to be the case in the research I've done though so I'm thinking not.

I don't think it is a silly question. I wondered about it myself when I was first diagnosed simply because I had never heard of CVID and as soon as I heard the word "immunodeficiency" that is where my mind went. My understanding is that very different groups of cells are affected between the two diseases, so I don't think the lab abnormalities are the same at all.

CVID is generally considered genetic while HIV/AIDS is acquired. Totally different.
Some of the best PI docs came from the HIV/AIDS war. They understand the immune system and understand antibiotic therapy.
