Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
That is AWESOME news and I am so psyched for you. This Dr sounds like he is very current in the field of Immunology, clearly has taken a personal interest in you, and is not afraid to use assertive treatments to get you healthy-Right on!
This sounds really hopeful and I am glad you get the chance to work with a Doc that deals with complex cases.
Shine on you crazy diamond!
LuLu
*Did you get that reference or am I showing my age? If you don't know it Google it so I don't feel so bad :)
I feel less old than my 37 years!
Seriously, I have high hopes for you and I am looking forward to updates about new medical technique and tests that are going to help those lungs of yours...and if this Big City Doc says stay the heck in bed, you better not go to class. I feel like you may need a security guard outside your door to make sure you don't leave as well as some heavy sedation :)
Love your Avatar and the very cute Dog! I wish I had something else to walk besides myself!
OK, rest up you...you have some big stuff coming up, and you want to be as healthy as a sick person can be so you don't miss a minute of it!
Best, LuLu
If it is, you are hooked up with a fantastic place, that does tons of research and has some of the best Immunos in the world contributing research.
Jeffry Modell was a little boy with one of the more rare forms of CVID and sadly died. Hies father is extremely wealthy and started this Foundation. It is a non-profit, and Mr Modell pays for lots of the research himself.
My Immuno said it is the best research to be found, and they are super picky when you click the 'find an expert link' there is an application to fill out and screening before you are allowed on the list!
More Info please!
Here's a link to the Jeffry Modell Center. You are in amazing hands and I want details of all the new stuff they have going on.

Check out the way cool model they have toward the left of the Center they are planning on building at Harvard Med School...Glider, these people have money-they spare no expense when it comes to research and treatment.
Right On!
