Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
I'd call and ask to speak with a nurse advocate at the ins company, and follow up with IDF as well and ask them what to do. They should have someone at the ins. company who deals with chronic illness cases, even if they aren't as familiar with PIDD.
I also wonder if the docs orders or how it is billed to the insurance company factors in. My insurance recently changed and I had to change pharmacies as well. However initially, insurance was going to cover my old pharmacy because they were confused and thought I was going to a facility. It would have been billed as a medical benefit, not a prescription benefit.
Definitely, definitely stay on treatment!
