Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

Newly Diagnosed with CVID... Feedback on SCig

Hello... I after 17 years I was just diagnosed with CVID this last week. They are working on getting me started with SCig at home... I have heard that the prices are outrageous even with BCBS insurance. Is there any questions I should be asking that a first timer wouldn't know to ask? Also I have read about using a specialty pharmacy and possible getting co-pay assistance.... Is this something I need to be researching before I get setup or once they get my prescription written?

I just changed insurance providers. My new monthly copayment for Hyqviq is a whopping $1,000 a month. Add to that my monthly insurance premium of $860/month ($1,500 per month if I had no tax subsidy). I would have to make $50,000 a year just to pay my Hyqvia copayment and insurance premiums ONLY (if no tax subsidy. Clearly this is not affordable despite having help through Hyqvia copayment card. This stress, combined with deep fatigue from my CVID + CF makes things pretty tough right now. When copayment runs out I most likely will have to cutback on infusions, which will mean unbearable fatigue and constant infections--some serious. I hope relief is on the horizon!
