Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
I'll bite. I was just diagnosed with CVID 4 months ago and have had 3 IVIG treatments 3 weeks apart. Its been a challenging roller coaster.
After being in the ER for aseptic meningitis after round 2, we tried Allegra, naproxen, dexamethasone, boswellia, hemp oil and curcumin. I was fine til the meds I had with the infusion wore off, then in a scramble for 3 days to keep symptoms managed. I've had diarrhea and feel sick and exhausted 6 days out.
Is this what my life is going to be like? I do have active infections, which in on antivirals and antibiotics for. Are they making the IVIG symptoms worse, and might things improve if the infections resolve?
Thanks!
