Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

Hi all,


I am in Australia and been under my hematologist now for about 8 years. I have just started researching Mild CVID as I had a copy of his letter to my new doctor. I dont understand why he has offered no treatments to me.  I have listed on his letter CD4 T-cell Lymphocytosis of Uncertain Significance.  I have found out I have Ehlers Danlos, MTHFR, and a Thrombophilia mutation in this last year.  Should I be worried?

Where does the CVID diagnosis come from because for that you would have low IGs but you don't mention IGs at all. None of the things you mention have anything to do with CVID.

IgG is 5.6 g/L (6.6-14.9)
IgA is 0.9 (0.7-3.6)
IgM is 0.4 (0.4-1.6) This one is always 0.4 without change. It just comments "we note the persistence of diffusely low gamma globulins. No abnormal discrete bands were detected.
The majority of lymphoid cells are T cells. The B cells present are polyclonal. There is no evidence of a B cell lymphoproliferative disorder. CONCLUSION: The CD4+ T-cell lymphocytosis persists. This has been this way for about 8 years and I just dont know what he is looking for?

So your IgG is slightly low but probably not low enough to treat. They will want to watch it I expect to see that it doesn't go lower. Otherwise they might treat if you get a lot of infections. The CD4 lymphocytosis means you have a high number of CD4 white blood cells and they don't know why. Something else for them to watch.
