Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group

Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

I do not see an immunologist, I see an oncologist. So far my ivig infusions are making me feel better but there seem to be no answers to my questions. I can find general info on lake swimming but nothing that concerns a cvid patient. I grew up swimming in a farm lake and now am back where I started and would love to swim but have reservations. I have never been swimming in a public pool. There is so much to learn and so far I have learned most of it from this site. Thanks to all. I have been trolling this site for a while, joined but trolling....

I've swam in both. Once on our infusions we have a much better immune system. I wouldn't swim where other people wouldn't swim lol I'm not sure why we couldn't swim in either :)

Thanks kelli1b. For the first time in a while I am looking forward to the summer. Love to swim but have not had a place to swim for a good while.
Thanks to everyone who makes this site possible. I have learned so very much and do appreciate the positive answers and good information. So much to learn in this journey!
