Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group

Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

Hi there. I was diagnosed with CVID about 4 years ago and it was caused by the treatment for my autoimmune disorder. 


I've always wanted to be part of a community that understands how it feels to be sick, but not look sick. 


I have been on sub-q infusions for about 4 months now because the IVig had me feeling pretty rough for almost a week after. I consider myself very fortunate to have a job that supports my condition, but I still feel bad when I miss work.


I just wanted to introduce myself and offer my support. Sometimes I make myself feel better by helping others.

Hey I just got here too. Please feel free to reach out any time. I have CVID with NRH. Diagnosed almost 20 years ago. I am on a clinical trial at National Institutes of Health, NIAID team, specifically for CVID with NRH. (Nodular Regenerative Hyperplasia, a rare liver disease thst happens somewhat frequently in CVID people.)

as far as I understand it, no treatment can give you CVID. It is a genetic disorder. Some people think this is the case because it seems to come out of no where. The research states that the cases vary so wildly, some people do not show symptoms until their 30's, others are born with problems. the severity range is very complex.
