Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
There could be a couple of answers. First, it could be time for a brand change. I used one particular brand that was brutal on me which included massive body/bone pain and nausea. Also, it could be they are infusing too quickly. There is a really good nausea med that melts on your tongue they use in chemo patients - Zofran. I keep some on me ALL the time.
Let your doctor know asap and see if you can get some relief.
Fight the good fight and let us know how you do.
how are your sinuses? if you are having lots of drainage it could be that....
it could be igg i take zophran iv before my ivig.....there was a great article in ig living a few mths back that talked about the rate of infusions are the cause to many igg side effects....maybe try slowing the speed of infusion and see if that helps....
i would say my number one compliant daily is nausea....diet ginger ale helps and ginger cookies of course crackers...i also drink 2 drinakable yogurts in the mornings it helps get the meds down....
finding the source of the nausea has been a constant battle the last few yrs...just saw my rheumy today she dropped lowered one of my meds to see if it helps....
for me it is like morning sickness keeping something on my stomach crackers etc helps....
Wow! Back to work, good for you! I am sorry to hear you are having these problems right now.I have only been on IVIG for 10 months, so I don't know how great my advice is.
I get waves of nausea the day after treatment. If I stand up too fast or too long the nausea gets worse. Is there a place to sit for a minute at work and put your head between your knees? Athletes do this all the time to prevent vomiting. I am so not an athlete, but I do find it helpful.
I've taken Zofran before and it has helped significantly, but it makes me sleepy. I would test it out at home and see if it is a med you could manage to take and function on.
I don't know what ginger gravol is, but...more and more studies are showing how good ginger is for the gut. My GI gave me a ginger ale recipe without any gut irritants that store bought can sometimes have..Buy actual Ginger Root, soda water and pure cane sugar. Stick the ginger root into the blender and blend it up really well. Add soda water and pure cane sugar.
If you find you are having dizzy spells before the nausea/vomiting I might also have your blood pressure checked to see if it is too low-I would specifically ask for the 'Tilt Table Test'
