I just wanted to add that I'm on a z-pak after getting the flu. I must have gotten exposed at the Dr's office because I really don't go out much. I was sick for well over a week & felt really weak during that time. How do u guys protect yourselves during flu season? Can those of us with CVID even be vaccinated? What about those of us with an egg allergy and/or those of us on a immunosuppressive?

hi there. my immuno did give me a flu shot. I'm not allergic to eggs though. we can't have the live nose spray and family should not get it either as we can catch the flu from that. the shot takes several days to take effect and I would ask you doc before getting one someplace other than his office

I stay away from people and wear a mask. we have whooping cough, tb and the flu going around. I am still not holding antibodies long enough and they are working to get me to a certain level, so my doctor has told me to mask up.

yes the flu season is upon us. Tuesday when I was having my infusion a lady came in with the flu and they worked all day on getting her infused and other medication trying to keep her out of the hospital. they kept my infusion room door closed and were using sprays and gels like it was going out of style

My doc gave me a flu shot (I get one every year) and a pneumonia vaccine. I am not sure about egg allergy or how that might or might not be a problem.

Like Deb I usually will wear a mask if I have to go to the doctor in the wintertime because usually those around me are sick. I don't usually wear a mask out in public other than that though, just haven't gotten to that point yet!

I don't go out with out my hand sanitizer and wipes...And I am going to avoid all crowds...

Hey Jul Sorry you are sick. I get a flu shot annually. Nobody really knows if it helps us or not but there is no evidence I know of that it hurts. The only restriction is do get flu mist because that is a live vaccine that could be harmful. Also someone allergic to eggs can not get the flu shot due to eggs being used in the process. (not sure exactly how but they are used). By the way if you tested positive for flu why did the dr not use Tamiflu? I do know we have had positive flu test at the medical group I work for..so flu is in Tennessee!

I got the flu shot and my immune recommend the quad one that protects for 4 strains. He said I might get about 10% help from it compared to what my husband will get from it but the 10% was worth it. I usually get the flu a few times through the winter so hears hoping those iggys are working overtime. I got mine at Walgreens.

We get a flu shot every year. The sad thing is, the cold and flu is going around my city like flies. This is Sunday and I'm wondering do I want to attend church because I don't know if I'm going to bring home more germs to my mom. She is 78 and have to take Tamiflu med. She went to the emergency room yesterday but they would not keep her because they did not want to expose her to more germs. She was told to go home, relax, take the meds, drink lots of water and stay away from crowds.

My mom also has a low immune system. She wears a mask whenever she goes out but one day. Last week, when mom had a doctor's appointment a lady, who was another passenger in the same vehicle with us, had the flu. She was sitting in the back of the vehicle with my mom while I was sitting in the front seat. The lady kept coughing but she was not covering her mouth. Mom said that she had to turn her back against the lady and covered her face with her pillow, (mom has to use the wheelchair whenever she goes out so I have to go along to help with the chair). Like you JulAvendano, we don't go out much either. We don't drive or have a car so we depend on public rides. This is why I don't want to go to church this morning. I would really want to but the way my mom is sick, it worries me a lot.
