Hey there! I just got out of the hospital and had to jump back into classes right away so have a rough recovery ahead. Oh boy, there is so much I could say and attempt to discuss about that stay. It was rough! One thing I wanted to ask though was how diagnostic testing typically appears. The doctors were struggling to make treatment plans for me as they haven't followed my case before, and seemed inexperienced in the immune deficiency field. When you get sick what typically shows abnormal on lab work and other tests? My WBC count was super low but I typically always have normal results on basic lab tests. Of course I have that inability to produce antibodies, I have the malabsorption in my GI system, and some other lung conditions which seemed present on my x-ray but I don't always present with huge infiltrates in my lungs when I am culturing bugs, and I don't get large changes in bloodwork other than WBC count or some electrolytes, and had the abnormal enzyme levels this time. It was all very confusing to the doctors because they could tell my body was extremely sick, but they wanted to see mind blowing test results! I had trouble educating them properly on my condition, and wanted to see if this happened to be somewhat of a normal presentation for anyone else? I finished out my IV antibiotics, and IV anti fungals for the bugs growing out, and I think we have the pancreatitis at a manageable phase so hopefully everything stays stable and I can continue to maintain from home!
