Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
I was diagnosed with CVID this past year (I get infusions once a month, no side effects) and shortly after also developed polymyalga rheumatica. My rheumatologist put me on prednisone. About five months ago I started having mild shortness of breath but in the past month it has intensified to where I get out of breath doing everyday things. My PCP is going to send me to a pulmonalogist.
I was wondering if anyone has had similar issues? Is this all part of having CVID?
Also my rheumatologist just switched me over to methotrexate which I'm reading is not great if you have lung issues. Is anyone familiar with this?
Thanks
B
