I'm sorry to hear that you have bronchitis, but I'm glad you were able to go on to the doctor and get some antibiotics. Mine always starts out in the sinuses and moves down south. Maybe next time you have to feel hungover, you can have fun first!

As far as the bronchiectasis, I really don't know but there are lots of people on here who have it and would be able to tell you. I have also wondered if I may have it as I deal with chest pain, SOB and coughing up mucus on a daily basis. I'm going to talk to my pulmonologist when I see him in August. My immunologist just thought I'm keeping an infection and need more iggies.

I read some of the symptoms from the American Lung Association and they are: coughing (worse when laying down), shortness of breath, abnormal chest sounds, daily production of large amounts of coughed up mucus, chest pain, clubbing of fingers and toes. They can detect it with chest x-rays, lung function tests, CT scans and sputum cultures.

Sorry about the bronchitis. Hope the antibiotics get you back on track. I have bronchiectasis, as well as an additional lung disease from all the infections. It can be seen on a CT. It is basically a permanent widening/enlargement of the airways due to damage from repeated infections. I have a daily cough that produces a lot of sputum. I have to spend about 2 hours every day doing lung therapies that help me clear all the junk out because it will cause the lungs to fill with mucus. My breathing is impaired all the time, and I culture bugs that require IV antibiotics a few times a year because of the extra mucus making it easy to grow bacteria. It can cause chest pain, though I don't think that's a major complaint. When I have pulmonary function testing it shows severe obstruction. My other condition causes that, and bronchiectasis can show it too. Diagnosis can be made based on your presentation, with a positive CT. Best of luck.
