Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group

Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.

I remember a conversation about certain blood work being different after starting Ig replacement. Does anyone know which ones? Thanks

For me they check igg levels a full cbs and liver function test every three months. good luck hope this helps

Any test that checks any sort of antibody will be skewed.

I remember vaguely that my Immunologist wanted my Rheumotologist to do all her bloodwork for AutoImmune stuff before I started IVIG so her results would be accurate. Does that help?

Ok. Thanks for all the input. So if my ANA was positive before infusion started would infusion now make it negative?

Not necessarily. The docs say you could throw a false positive due to others or throw a negative because a lack of your own...so in other words, you need a really good doc who will not only look at labs but at your overall health and symptoms

YES Kelli! Thank you-only one or two of my docs even look at me as a 'whole' patient and not just at specific crap they exclusively treat!

My biopsies from the two types of skin lesions I have been having since 2010 BOTH seem to be the same thing in different versions......and the term on the report seemed familiar.

Then I went back to the colonoscopy report my gastro doc gave me last year when they found the c-diff...low and behold, they're in my intestines and colon, too.

Why do we seem to be our own experts?!
