Common Variable Immunodeficiency Support Group
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
My doctors have me go on antibiotics as soon as I have any sign of an infection. I go on them usually for 10 days then off for a couple weeks, then if I still have an infection back on for 2 week, with a stronger antibiotic then back off for two weeks then back on for another two week and if needed steroids...Hope this helps
Better to be safe..
Feel better

Hope you feel better soon..
My immuno tells me to give it three days to improve, but if it gets worse within those three days to get it checked out. If it is no better after then, he gives antibiotics. He says that after three days I should know if it is going to improve on its on or not and if I wait any longer after that, I could end up in the hospital. If I were you, I'd go in and get it checked out. I hope you feel better soon. Sinus infections and URIs suck!
Love and hugs,
Ashlee
Your body needs the extra help at this time. I like Kellis analogy of sending soldiers to war without guns. The visuals really help me.
When I thought how I was feeling was due to IVIG wearing off. This was my 2nd one. I thought I was started feeling so bad, because the IVIG was wearing off. I ended up in the hospital with a pneumonia. That was with the help of a friend who has had cvid for 9 years. She saw it before me.
My point in sharing, is I understand wanting to be able fight it on your own. I personally am good a rationalizing things.
So, please don't put your health at further risks and call your doctor and have it checked out. Keep us posted. Wishing you fast healing.

taking pro biotics protects us in the gut.
my doc uses different anti b's for different things. I have a port and a prosthetic knee internal so if I have ANY invasive or dental or injections I get put on one.
This is no joke.
By now your other guard your lymph system has been pulling extra duty. When I started ivig Mine was GONE! it has taken almost four years to restore it. That is six months of being well! Masking was not an option everywhere I went I had to ware one. It worked but do not let yourself go there. It was no fun.
Feel better.
Also nasal lavage is a daily thing for me. My iggs cant guard me or defend my nose so I do it for them by washing out sinus every night and when I get a dose of dust or such as an extra time.
No bad sinus now for a year or so. When I did get on last year I was able to clear it up with a fast zpack to the rescue.
good luck. keep is updated

Lets take last week. A small sinus thing runs though the house. Its viral no big thing. I say "everyone else can fight this...I can to" So I wait it out. Each day getting sicker and sicker. Five days later everyone else is fine Im sicker than a dog. By one week my glands are swollen out of my neck and its going into bronchitis and I cant breathe. Yep got on antibiotics and 3 days later im good to go.
If I don't get that sick than what takes everyone else a week ends up taking me two rounds of antibiotics and two months to get over. What starts as viral ends in infection with me. Im still stubborn (although not as stubborn as Deb) lol
Point is don't do it to yourself. IM a bad one. I think deep down since the Drs wont treat me for CVID I feel that im going to prove im "NORMAL" all that ends up happening is I make myself sicker. Its not worth it. Get some meds girl. Comfort means the world.
I will try to discipline myself more and call immuno when I need ABY..Thanks you ALL you are a blessing!
I've been running fever for two weeks and don't know why. then my urine turned dark tea color and I panicked. but still waited two days to call in. no pain no pressure just fever. but my doctor is taking this really seriously. that scared me more than anything. I go in for infusion tomorrow and he has ordered additional blood work. yahoo needles. my favorite thing.
so I've learned a lesson too. - when in doubt. CALL YOUR DOCTOR MOUNTAINS. hardheaded and cvid don't go together.
love you mountains. you know I do :-). glad your back. I miss our bantering. HA. I'm sorry you have been so sick. I wish this winter would end.
blankenh so glad you are posting and asking questions. don't go budding up with mountains. we have running virtual disputes from time to time and you need to be on my side. (it's all in fun)
hugs to all

Deb you Sassy sister quiet trying to get people on your side. YOUR falling apart UGG You worry me. ITs hard to banter with you when im worried about you. So get healthy so I can pick on you and not feel bad lol
You girls forget HA due to life circumstance "being normal" or Drs "unaware" I am not technically diagnosed Cvid Just a little "immune suppressed" Technically I feel that it means I can live in denial as long as I want. SO last time it took me one whole week before I started antibiotics. I would say THATS NOT HORRIBLE
Blankenth if Deb didn't say so I think she meant " Blankenh please feel better soon from all of us here at DS" That is what Deb meant.
HA H Love you girls ... Mountains
Glad to see you called Uncle and are getting the treatment you need. As everyone mentioned, we respond to and need the Antibiotics for us to get rid of the bacterial infection. It's the viral infections that we cannot do much for and at times, it takes forever for our bodies to get rid of the virus.
Sending you warm thoughts and prayers to get better soon.
Light and Love,
Denise
