Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a group of 20-30 primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) which have a common set of symptoms but with different underlying causes. CVID's underlying causes are different, but the result of these are that the body doesn't produce sufficient antibodies in response to exposure to pathogens.
I am 44 I have known about my cvid for 15 months.i have gained about 95 lbs.i had just lost about that much right befor I got realy sick in 2014 with mono that's when they found my civd.i have fibro and pulmonary hypertension I wear 02 and the lung doc says no exersize.i was a florist for my whole life know I am on disability .I hate this no get up and go .always hungry and yes diareah and tummy trouble but I still eat.and I have type 2 diabeties that came on in 2014 all this at once my mono has a lot to do with the weight I think.its esb and cmv mono.so it never gos away I am told.i don't know where to start but I think my weight is a good place.i took ivig evey 4 weeks until last month now they are tryn every 12 weeks we will see. last time they tried I was in the hospital with mersa.so many things going on at the same time.my treatment make me very sick for a few days and my doc says no way but it dose.i get a head ach and hurt all over .my fibro gos crazy.this is my first post and I have bad spelling so plz forgive me.i need all the help and info I can get plz help
Also if you have CVID and your doc is dosing you every 12 weeks, if it were me, I would be finding a new doctor. IVIG is administered every 3-4 weeks. It only has a 3 week (approximately) half life. Meaning your body uses it up in that amount of time, sometimes quicker. There is NO LITERATURE supporting a 12 week dose for CVID. I'm worried for you on this dose ((hugs))
