I just want to hear from some transgenders. I want to hear your own personal story what it was like for you. If you have any advice, I'd be grateful. I just want to hear about how being trans affected your life and what is was like after you came out(or how you plan to come out). Thanks!

well, there are a few of us in this group, though you will probably have more hits to this in "Transgender" than this one. I guess if you could be more specific on what kind of things you want to hear about, I may be able to help you a bit more. Life was hell for me hiding it, I came out and that part got better, but over all the world did not change, life didn't miraculously change. It was just another element of life. Sure I lost friends and the like, had people say some nasty things, talk behind my back, you know, all the things we humans seem to like to do to make ourselves feel better. In reality though, nothing really changes except your perception of the world around you.

I wasn't sure how to come out as FTM to my dad so i took him and my mum to see my therapist XD I needed a safe environment. he was okay with it... ish... he has a bit of trouble but I understand that, he's not the most open-minded. we still have a few struggles every now and then about it. I want to change my name on the school register for my last year and when I told him he didn't even look at me, and just asked my "why" and I'm sat there like "...because my name is a girls name and I'm not... maybe?" But really my family are great. I'm telling everyone else in my family in the summer when i see them next and after that I'll be thinking about testosterone. to be honest i think i'm lucky because i live in Scotland in a less populated area where no one gives a shit about what you do as long as you aren't stealing their shit. but it's still scary. and I'm open about my "trans-y-ness" and it still makes me cry every time i tell someone, because even if it does get easier it still hurts.. but if someone hates on you for being brave and who you want to be, you're probably better without the anyway :)

I came out to my therapist first. She actually had to stop and Google transgender. Then i came out to my psychiatrist who again had to google transgender. After secretly getting on hormones i told my mother. She was super supportive and introduces me to people as her daughter kaighley. She kinda outs me all the time cus shes so proud. My fiance reacted in a way tht lead to ua breqking up for awhile but now we r back on track to marriage and living as lesbians. Following telling most of my friends and family in private i did a mass Facebook post coming out to everyone i was friends with at once. Now ive been on hormones for months now and development wise im a 46B cup up from my formerly flat man chest. I still battle bouts of depression but im taking it one day at a time. I hope this helped you.
